Beyond the "Documentary Delusion": Why Modern War is Not a Movie

As we prepare to release my session with physicist Dr. Ran Zamir tonight at 23:00 JST, I must address the profound gap between reality and the “stories” being told by mainstream media—particularly outlets like NHK.

1. The “Vietnam” and “Iraq” Fallacy

It is fundamentally incorrect—and strategically illiterate—to compare the current dismantling of the IRGC to the Vietnam or Iraq wars. Those who rely on these tired tropes demonstrate a complete lack of understanding regarding modern warfare. We are witnessing a surgical, high-tech neutralization of a theological regime, not a decade-long “quagmire.” To suggest otherwise is a delusion the media uses to push a specific ideological narrative.

2. Dr. Zamir on the Japanese Spirit & Historical

Truth As a true lover of Japanese culture, Dr. Zamir expressed his strong belief in the future and resilience of the Japanese people. He reminded us of a crucial historical fact often ignored by modern media: Pre-war Japanese society was deeply sensitive to the threat of Antisemitism. He looks to this legacy of moral awareness as a foundation for Japan’s modern role. He holds exceptionally high expectations for Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, viewing her as the leader capable of securing a truly Free and Open Indo-Pacific.

3. Pattern-Matching the Dictator

While the media builds “documentaries” out of thin air, I did the work. I tracked Supreme Leader Khamenei’s accounts to see how often he targeted “Zionism” and PM Netanyahu by name. There is a clear pattern and a calculated logic—an “algorithm of hate” that Dr. Zamir and I discussed. The strategy employed by the Trump administration to counter this was correct; the media’s claim that Israel is the “secret hand” behind the conflict is not just wrong—it is defamatory.

4. The 10,000 Souls Forgotten

The Japanese media frames this as a “situation” to be worried about, but they ignore the humanity. They stay silent about the 10,000+ protesters executed by the IRGC this year alone. They claim drone strikes on civilian complexes in neighboring countries were “near misses.” They were not. They were intentional, targeted acts of terror.

The Bottom Line: Japan has a vital role to play, but it cannot do so while clinging to “Bat Diplomacy.” Dr. Zamir believes in a resilient Japan that leads with strength. If Japan does not take its own defense seriously, the bond with the U.S. will inevitably fray.

Tonight at 11 PM JST, we stop acting on feelings and start acting on facts.

Lastly, my prayers go to the families of U.S. military service members who made ultimate sacrifices for the great nation, the United States, and their family members.

現在、米国とそのパートナー諸国、とりわけ日本との通商関係は、「課税による外交」という政策によって限界点にまで追い込まれています。歴史的に見れば、日米同盟は強固に統合されたサプライチェーンと相互の資本投資という基盤の上に築かれてきました。その結果、日本は米国経済における最大の対外投資国となったのです。しかし、現政権は包括的な関税を課すことで、戦略的同盟国をあたかも「略奪的な競合相手」であるかのように扱っています。この方針転換は、単に物品の価格を押し上げるだけではありません。長期的な二国間合意に不可欠な「信頼」を損ない、同盟諸国に対して安定を求めた「米国離れ」を強要する一方で、米国の消費者にそのツケを支払わせているのです。

The current trade relationship between the U.S. and its partners, particularly Japan, is being pushed to a breaking point by a policy of “diplomacy through taxation.” Historically, the U.S.-Japan alliance has been built on a foundation of integrated supply chains and mutual capital investment, which transformed Japan into the largest foreign investor in the American economy. By imposing sweeping tariffs, the administration is treating a strategic ally as a predatory competitor. This shift doesn’t just raise the cost of goods; it erodes the trust required for long-term bilateral agreements, forcing allies to look elsewhere for stability while leaving American consumers to pay the price.

The failure of this policy stems from the fundamental myth of the “foreign-paid” tax. Despite the political theater, Japan does not pay tariffs; they are a tax collected at the border from American importers. When Japanese corporations are hit with a 15% duty, that cost is passed directly to U.S. households in the form of higher prices for cars, electronics, and medical supplies. This creates a regressive tax burden that dampens domestic purchasing power and fuels inflation. By making everything from grocery deliveries to family vehicles more expensive, the policy effectively taxes the American middle class to fund a protectionist experiment that has yet to deliver on its promises.

Beyond the immediate costs, these tariffs are failing to achieve their stated goal: shrinking the trade deficit. Economic data from early 2026 shows the deficit remaining largely unchanged from 2024 levels. This is the “Rube Goldberg” effect of trade: as tariffs discourage imports, they also tend to drive up the value of the dollar, making American exports more expensive and harder to sell abroad. The result is a shrinking of total trade volume—both imports and exports—leaving the U.S. economy more isolated and less dynamic, without actually “rebalancing” the scales as promised.
